What cookies are and why we use them
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit. They let the site recognise your device on a later visit, remember choices you have made, and keep certain actions working from one page to the next. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and local storage, do much the same job, and where this policy refers to cookies it covers those technologies too.
We use cookies on this site for four broad reasons:
- To keep the site running and your session secure, including when you sign in, move between pages and open the cashier.
- To understand how the site is used, so that pages load properly and faults can be found and put right.
- To remember settings you have chosen, such as your language or your display preferences.
- To measure how our advertising performs and, where you have agreed to it, to make the messages you see more relevant.
Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the suppliers we work with, for example the providers that host our games, handle payments or help us measure site performance. We do not list those suppliers here, because the list changes; the current categories, and the choices open to you, are always shown in the cookie notice on the site.
The types of cookies we use
Our cookies fall into the four categories below. Strictly necessary cookies are always active, because the site cannot work without them. The other three categories are optional and are used only where you have given your agreement.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies make the site usable. They keep you signed in as you move between pages, hold your session together, spread traffic so that pages load, and support the security measures that protect your account and help us spot unusual activity.
Typical purposes include keeping your log-in valid for the length of a session, remembering that you have seen a message we are required to show, and protecting forms against misuse.
Performance and analytics cookies
These cookies tell us how the site is used overall, in reports that do not identify you personally. They count visits, show which pages are opened most often, record how long a page takes to load, and flag errors so that we can fix them.
Typical purposes include measuring which parts of the cashier or the game lobby are hardest to use, and comparing two versions of a page to see which one works better for players.
Functionality cookies
These cookies remember choices you have made, so that you do not have to make them again. They are not needed for the site to run, but they make it easier to use.
Typical purposes include remembering your preferred language, keeping your sound or display settings between visits, and holding your place in a form while you gather the documents needed for a verification check.
Marketing cookies
These cookies measure how our advertising performs and, where you have agreed, help make the messages you see more relevant. They may record that you arrived from a particular campaign, or that you have already seen a given message so that it is not repeated.
We do not use marketing cookies to target anyone who has self-excluded, who has asked us to stop sending marketing, or who is not of legal age to gamble. Our games and promotional messages are for adults aged 18 or over only.
| Category | Used by default | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Yes | Signing in, session security, cashier pages |
| Performance and analytics | Only with your agreement | Counting visits and finding faults |
| Functionality | Only with your agreement | Remembering language and display choices |
| Marketing | Only with your agreement | Measuring campaigns and limiting repeat messages |
How to manage cookies
You can change your mind at any time. There are two main ways to do it.
In the cookie notice on the site
When you first visit, a cookie notice asks which optional categories you are happy for us to use. You can accept them all, keep only the strictly necessary ones, or choose category by category. The same panel can be opened again from the footer, and your choices take effect as soon as you save them.
In your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block new ones, either for all sites or for one site only. Browsers on phones and tablets offer the same controls, usually in the settings for the browser app.
- Open the settings or preferences menu in your browser.
- Find the section covering privacy, security, cookies or site data.
- Choose whether to block cookies, delete those already stored, or allow them only for sites you pick.
- Save the change and reload the site so that the new setting applies.
Clearing cookies signs you out
If you delete cookies while you are signed in, you will be signed out and anything unsaved on the page may be lost. Sign out first if you would rather not lose it.
What happens if you block cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working. You may be unable to sign in or stay signed in, open the cashier, or complete a deposit or withdrawal, and some pages may not load at all. These cookies cannot be switched off in the cookie notice, because without them we could not offer a secure account.
Turning off the optional categories has a smaller effect. The site will still work, with the following results.
- Settings such as language or display may need to be chosen again on every visit.
- We will have less information about faults, so problems may take longer to find and fix.
- You will still see advertising, but it will be less relevant to you.
Blocking cookies does not remove any limits, time-outs or self-exclusion you have set. Those are held against your account records, not in cookies on your device.
Your account, safer gambling and how to reach us
Cookies play no part in the tools you use to stay in control. Deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion are set in your account and keep applying whatever device you use and whatever cookie choices you make. If you want a break from gambling altogether, GamStop lets you self-exclude from licensed online operators in Great Britain, and free, confidential support is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline.
We hold a gaming licence and check the identity of every account holder before a withdrawal is paid. Personal information collected through cookies is handled as set out in our privacy policy, which explains what we keep, why we keep it and for how long.
If you have a question about this policy, want to know more about how a particular category is used, or would like help changing your settings, write to us at support@casinolottogo.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Questions about the wider handling of your personal information can be sent to privacy@casinolottogo.co.uk.
We update this policy from time to time, for example when the categories we use change. The version shown here is always the current one, and any significant change is flagged in the cookie notice so that you can set your choices again.
